TeamMate is happy to announce that beta support for SIP Auto-Provisioning is now available with the release of version 2.8. SIP Auto-Provisioning is a new feature that further streamlines the configuration and management of our PBX Connector integration for Microsoft Teams.
The TeamMate PBX Connector works by mapping a Teams user to a SIP extension on the user’s PBX. As a result, it is necessary for TeamMate to manage the corresponding PBX SIP username and password for each Teams user. Until now, this required PBX administrators (that had not integrated their provisioning process with the TeamMate API) to manually enter SIP credentials into the TeamMate provisioning interface.
With this feature, the TeamMate provisioning portal is able to automatically obtain SIP credentials from any http/https provisioning server. This means that SIP credentials no longer require manual keying into the TeamMate provisioning portal, greatly reducing the opportunity for error and enhancing security. Further, if SIP credentials are changed on the PBX side of things, TeamMate will accept SIP check-sync notifications and re-provision users accordingly.
In addition, the new feature supports assignment of telephone numbers to Teams users, if they are available in the user’s provisioning configuration.
The new feature works using either the TeamMate web portal or API, and has been tested with leading vendors of SIP provisioning servers, including Metaswitch, Netsapiens/Crexendo and Phonism. It is available in beta as of today.
