When a Teams user transfers a call, Pro Transfer tells your PBX. The user is free for the next call right away, queues and ring groups keep routing, and unanswered transfers land in PBX voicemail.

Microsoft Teams does not tell an external phone system when a call is transferred. With most Teams telephony integrations, the PBX still thinks the original user is on the call. They show as busy for the whole transferred call, so call queues and ring groups pass them over, and a transfer nobody answers may never reach PBX voicemail. PBX Connector fixes this with Pro Transfer.
The PBX learns the call has moved, so the user who transferred it is available again at once instead of showing busy until the call ends.
Because PBX status is accurate, inbound calls route to the people who are really free.
Transfers run through the PBX, so a call nobody picks up goes to PBX voicemail as it should.
Search for anyone in Teams and transfer to them, including people without a Direct Routing number or Teams Phone license.
Transfer to a PBX extension, or to an outside number through the PBX, from the Teams call controls.
Talk to the person first, then hand over the call, with the PBX kept up to date throughout.
Teams moves the call without telling the PBX. The transferring user stays busy on the PBX for the length of the call, and unanswered transfers can miss PBX voicemail.
The PBX handles park and transfer. Attended transfers only work if the PBX sends the call back to Teams, and only the G.711 codec is supported.
The TeamMate session border controller handles the transfer and keeps the PBX informed, including transfers by name to Teams users who have no Direct Routing number.
Pro Transfer affects every transfer on a Direct Route, so start with a test Direct Route and a few test users.
For transfers to Teams users without a Direct Routing number, TeamMate sends a REFER with a special number prefix. Add a rule so the PBX routes those calls back to the TeamMate edge.
Once the test transfers work, enable Pro Transfer on your main Direct Route in the TeamMate portal.
For a Teams Direct Routing user, TeamMate rewrites transfers by name to other Direct Routing users so the PBX handles them like any other transfer. For a transfer to a Teams user who is not on Direct Routing, TeamMate sends the PBX a REFER whose Refer-To number starts with the prefix 0770 and points to the TeamMate edge. The PBX places the new call to that address, keeping the prefix, and TeamMate rebuilds the headers and completes the transfer in Teams. An optional x-refer-id parameter can be passed along. Partners get step-by-step setup guides, including an Asterisk dialplan example, in the TeamMate knowledge base.
Pro Transfer is a TeamMate PBX Connector feature that keeps your PBX in step with call transfers made in Microsoft Teams. When a Teams user transfers a call, the PBX knows about it, so the transferring user is available again right away and unanswered calls go to PBX voicemail.
Microsoft Teams does not tell an external PBX when a call is transferred. The PBX still sees the original user on the call, so they stay busy for the whole transferred call, call queues and ring groups skip them, and unanswered transfers may not reach PBX voicemail.
Yes. Pro Transfer works even when the person receiving the transfer is not a Direct Routing user and has no Teams Phone license. Users can transfer by name to anyone in Teams.
Transfer by name to another Teams user, transfer to a PBX extension number, and transfer to an outside (PSTN) number through the PBX, including consultative transfers where the user speaks to the recipient first.
Forwarding REFER lets the PBX handle park and transfer, but attended transfers only work if the PBX sends the call back to Teams, and only the G.711 codec is supported. Pro Transfer handles transfers in the TeamMate session border controller, including transfers by name to users without a Direct Routing number.
Only one case needs a PBX rule: a transfer to a Teams user who is not a Direct Routing user. TeamMate sends a REFER with a special number prefix, and the PBX routes the resulting call back to the TeamMate edge. All other transfers are handled like any other transfer.
It is enabled per Direct Route in the TeamMate portal. Because it affects every transfer on that Direct Route, we recommend testing it first on a separate Direct Route with a few test users, then switching your main Direct Route.
Pro Transfer works with PBX Connector on any PBX that can route a call by number prefix, which most SIP PBXs can. TeamMate provides example configuration, for example for Asterisk.
