Teams ChatBridge

Enable users on Microsoft Teams and other collaboration and enterprise messaging platforms, such as Slack and Cisco Webex, to interact through direct messaging while remaining within their preferred applications.

Break Down the Walls Between Teams, Slack, and Webex

Your organization runs Microsoft Teams. Your partners are on Slack. Your acquired division still uses Webex. Sound familiar?

ChatBridge by TeamMate Technology is a real-time chat federation platform that connects Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Cisco Webex — so people can message each other across platforms without switching apps, forwarding screenshots, or losing context.

No plugins to install on every desktop. No workflow bots that break. Messages flow bidirectionally between platforms in real time, with full support for threads, reactions, file sharing, and presence.

Security and privacy protocols

TeamMate ensures the privacy of your messages and files, as they are never stored.

During data transfer between connected platforms, TeamMate establishes a secure connection using TLS 1.2 or higher, generally via the HTTPS protocol.

As for data at rest, it is safeguarded using industry-standard AES-256 encryption, providing robust security.

The Problem: Platform Silos Are Costing You Real Money

According to industry research, over 60% of Microsoft Teams users also regularly use at least one other messaging platform. In enterprises with partners, clients, or acquired companies, that number climbs higher.

The result:

  • Missed messages — A critical update posted in Slack never reaches the Teams-only team.
  • Context switching — Knowledge workers toggle between three apps dozens of times per day.
  • Shadow IT — People create unauthorized workarounds (personal phones, email chains) to bridge the gap.
  • Compliance gaps — Conversations happening outside governed channels can’t be archived or audited.

Native connectors between Teams and Slack exist, but they’re limited to one-way notifications. They don’t support real bidirectional chat. Webex? There’s no native connector at all.

ChatBridge solves this at the infrastructure level.

How ChatBridge Works

ChatBridge operates as a federation layer between messaging platforms. It connects to each platform via official APIs and translates messages, threads, reactions, and file attachments in real time.

Step 1: Connect Your Platforms

Deploy ChatBridge to your environment (cloud-hosted or on-premises). Authenticate with Microsoft Teams, Slack, and/or Cisco Webex using standard OAuth and admin-consented API permissions. No agents or plugins are installed on end-user devices.

Step 2: Map Your Channels

Define which channels, groups, or teams should be federated. ChatBridge supports:

  • Channel-to-channel bridging — Link a Teams channel to a Slack channel. Messages posted in either appear in both.
  • Cross-tenant federation — Connect Teams tenants from different organizations without Azure AD guest access.
  • Group bridging — Bridge Webex Spaces to Teams channels or Slack channels.
  • 1:1 federation — Enable direct messages between users on different platforms.

Step 3: Messages Flow

Once mapped, messages are translated and delivered in real time. Users stay in their preferred app. They don’t need to know (or care) that the person they’re chatting with is on a different platform.

What gets bridged:

  • Text messages and rich formatting
  • Threaded replies (mapped to the correct thread on each platform)
  • Emoji reactions
  • File and image attachments
  • Edited and deleted messages

What stays private:

  • ChatBridge does not store message content. Messages are translated and delivered in transit.
  • All connections use TLS 1.2+ encryption.
  • Audit logs capture metadata (who sent, when, which bridge) without storing message bodies — retention and audit policies are managed in Microsoft.

Key Features

Real-Time Bidirectional Messaging

Not a notification bot. Not a webhook. Full two-way chat between platforms with sub-second delivery. Users on Teams see Slack messages in their Teams client, and vice versa — with sender attribution, threading, and formatting preserved.

Webex Support — Only Available from TeamMate

ChatBridge is the only cross-platform messaging solution that supports Cisco Webex alongside Microsoft Teams and Slack. Competitors like Mio and NextPlane don’t offer Webex federation. If your organization uses Webex — or works with partners who do — ChatBridge is the only option that connects all three platforms.

Cross-Tenant Teams Federation

Connect Microsoft Teams tenants from separate organizations without requiring Azure AD B2B guest access. No shared directories, no external user licensing complications. Users in Tenant A message users in Tenant B directly from their native Teams client.

SIP and XMPP Protocol Translation

ChatBridge goes beyond API-based connectors. It supports SIP and XMPP protocol translation, enabling federation with legacy messaging systems and on-premises UC platforms that API-only solutions can’t reach.

White-Label for Service Providers

Built for the channel. MSPs and service providers can deploy ChatBridge under their own brand, manage multiple customer tenants from a single pane, and offer cross-platform messaging as a managed service. No other chat federation vendor offers this.

SOC 2 Type 2 Certified

TeamMate Technology holds SOC 2 Type 2 certification, independently verified by a third-party auditor. This covers security, availability, and confidentiality controls across the entire platform, including ChatBridge.

Zero-Footprint Deployment

Nothing is installed on end-user machines. ChatBridge connects to platforms at the API and protocol level. Users keep using their existing apps with no new software to learn.

Provisioning & Administration

The TeamMate Provisioning Portal is a secure web-based application designed to simplifyestablishing and managing all your external and internal federations from a central location. As a Teams administrator, you can manage all aspects of the federation process

User Subscription Model

Offers flexible, per-user, per-month subscription plans, allowing tailored user management and phased rollouts.

Worldwide Accessibility

Hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud, Teams ChatBridge operates globally, supported by clusters in every Azure region.

Custom Branding

Like all TeamMate solutions,  Teams ChatBridge Provides the ability to brand the service as your own.

TeamMate facilitates seamless user collaboration on different enterprise messaging platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Cisco Webex.

As a messaging hub, TeamMate efficiently handles protocol, content, and API translations. This allows for smooth interoperability between API-based team collaboration tools like Slack or Teams, and messaging solutions based on SIP or XMPP protocols.
