Do my customers need extra Microsoft licenses?

Not for standard SMS, which works with standard Microsoft Teams licensing. Secure SMS needs Microsoft Purview Audit and OneDrive for Business, included in Microsoft 365 plans such as E5.

Which SMS gateways are supported?

A growing list of SMS gateway carriers, including the networks shown above. Ask about yours.

Can a team share one number?

Yes. Each SMS number has its own team, and any team member can reply.

Can a user have more than one number?

Yes. Multiple SMS-enabled numbers per user are supported.

How much can I brand?

Your logo, colors, notifications and terms of service, in a custom Teams app.

Can texting meet compliance requirements?

Yes. With Secure SMS turned on, message content is encrypted, texts are sent and read only in Teams so Microsoft Purview can record every access, and admin reports are saved as encrypted files to OneDrive instead of being downloaded.

Does Secure SMS change how texting works?

A little. Users can reply in existing group conversations but can't start new group texts. Picture messages are encrypted in transit on the platform, but carriers may not encrypt them beyond it.
