Ask ten businesses how they use Microsoft Teams and you'll get ten different answers. One lives in Teams all day and wants the dial pad there. Another just signed a multi-year PBX contract and isn't ripping it out. A third has field techs texting customers from their personal phones. A fourth is a clinic that can't afford to let a single call go to voicemail.
If you're a service provider with only one way to connect to Teams, you can really only sell to one of those businesses. The rest either walk away or get shoehorned into a setup that doesn't fit, and both outcomes cost you: a lost deal now, or a churned customer later.
The providers winning Teams business aren't the ones with the single best integration. They're the ones who can say yes to whatever the customer in front of them actually needs.
Start with what the customer says, not with what you sell
Every Teams conversation starts with a customer describing a problem. Here's what that sounds like, and which TeamMate product answers it.
"We like our phone system. We just want it inside Teams."
This customer has a PBX that works and features their staff depend on. They don't want a migration project; they want to stop switching between apps. PBX Connector puts their existing cloud or on-premises PBX on the native Teams dial pad, and a tenant can connect to one PBX or several. With more than 80 PBX types and variants already tested, the answer is usually "yes, yours works."
"We're not paying for Teams Phone licenses for everyone."
Plenty of organizations want calling in Teams but balk at adding Microsoft Phone System licenses across the whole company. The ACS Call App, an add-on to PBX Connector, delivers calling inside Teams without those licenses, in an app carrying your brand. The license objection stops being a deal-breaker.
"Our IT team wants native Teams calling, and they want it done right."
Some customers already own Teams Phone licenses and want calls on Microsoft's own calling stack. You have two ways to deliver that:
- SIP Trunk Connector automates Direct Routing end to end: users, settings and call paths. Session border controllers are included, so there's no SBC for you to build or run.
- Operator Connect Express gives customers the Operator Connect provisioning experience without you going through Microsoft's certification program.
"We're missing calls and can't staff the front desk."
A dental office at lunch, a service department on a Saturday, a helpdesk after 5 p.m. AI Voice Agents answer and route calls conversationally inside Teams Phone. The agent looks up the right person in the Teams directory and shows what the caller wants on a call card while the phone is still ringing. It works with Operator Connect, Direct Routing or Microsoft Calling Plans, speaks 40+ languages, and starts from templates like Scheduling, Message Taker and After Hours Helpdesk. For healthcare customers, a BAA is available.
"We're regulated. Every call has to be recorded."
Financial services, healthcare and anyone taking card payments over the phone need a recording story before they'll sign. Teams Call Recording provides compliance recording for calls and meetings, including pause and resume for payment (PCI) moments.
"Our customers text us, and it ends up on someone's personal phone."
SMS Connector brings SMS and MMS into Teams on the customer's business numbers, with shared team inboxes per number. Texts ride your SMS gateway, and the conversation stays with the business instead of an employee's cell phone.
"Half our partners are on Slack. We just bought a company that runs on Webex."
Not every problem is voice. ChatBridge connects Teams, Slack and Webex in real time, with threads, reactions, files and presence, so nobody has to force a platform change to work together.

Real customers need more than one answer
The scenarios above are tidy. Real accounts aren't. Consider a regional medical group, a typical example of the kind of customer our partners bring us:
- The main office runs on a PBX it just upgraded, so it connects through PBX Connector.
- A clinic it acquired last year already uses Teams Phone licenses, so it's on Direct Routing through SIP Trunk Connector.
- Front-desk staff are overwhelmed after hours, so an AI Voice Agent takes appointment requests and routes urgent calls.
- Billing takes card payments by phone, so Teams Call Recording captures calls and pauses for payment details.
- Patients want to text, so SMS Connector gives each location a shared inbox.
With a single-method integration, this customer is a "partial yes" at best. With TeamMate, it's one tenant. Operator Connect Express, Direct Routing, PBX connections and even external SIP trunks can sit side by side for the same customer, all managed from one portal branded as yours.
That flexibility also changes how accounts grow. You don't have to sell everything on day one. Land with the one product that solves today's problem, then add the next when the customer's needs change: a new location, a compliance audit, a staffing crunch. Every Teams tenant becomes a place to keep selling.
And none of it requires you to give up what you already run. Calls ride your PBX, SIP trunks and carrier. Texts ride your SMS gateway. You keep your DIDs and carrier relationships, and provisioning is automated through the portal or the REST API.
Be the provider who says yes
Your customers don't care whether their Teams calling runs over Direct Routing, Operator Connect or a PBX connector. They care that it works the way their business works. The more ways you can connect them, the fewer deals you lose to "that's not how we do it."
TeamMate puts every one of those options on a single white-label platform, so you can meet each customer where they are and grow with them from there.
